Review for Babe on Board by J.A. Konrath

Posted in Book Reviews, books, reading, reviews with tags , on May 24, 2013 by firequeen3

Hello again. Okay so I read J.A. Konrath’s Babe on Board. This is a short story. It features Harry McGlade who has been in a lot of the Jack Daniels books.
Harry is a different character that’s for sure he used to be jacks partner. Now he is retired and is a private eye. This short story focuses not so much on a case Harry is working on but more on something going on in Harry’s life.
This short story is funny, yet there are times you want to kick Harry in his privates. He is a pig to say the least.
I recommend this short story for a read.
I finished it quickly. It held my attention.
I am currently reading Flee by J.A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson
So I shall return once I am finished.
As always thank you for reading.
Till next time.

Review for Afraid by J.A. Konrath

Posted in Book Reviews, books, horror, reading, reviews with tags , , on May 21, 2013 by firequeen3

Hello again. Okay so here I am finally I do apologize it took so long to get this one review out. I know I have said more then a couple of times that I would finish and review this book.
I will admit that this book was hard for me to get through. I also know what kind of author Konrath is and so I decided to stick with it and I kept picking it up. I knew eventually it would end up being the kind of book I am use to from Konrath.
I was right. It took more then half the book for me. Now I say with me because I am sure there have been others that couldn’t put this book down.
When this book really dug in I was very glad I picked the book back up. It was a roller coaster ride for the sick and twisted. I think I even recognized a character from another book of Konrath’s.
It will terrify you. Small town America watch out.
Okay don’t want to give all the goodies away so I won’t go into details.
I hate to spoil books for other readers.
This book is well worth the money.
The heroines are strong and the bad guys are ohh soo bad.
Okay that’s all I have for now.
I am unsure as to what I will be reviewing next as I am having trouble deciding what to read next.
So I guess until next time.

Review for Witch World by Christopher Pike.

Posted in Book Reviews, books, reading, reviews with tags , , on May 11, 2013 by firequeen3

Hello again. I finished Witch World by Christopher pike in a snap.
It grabs you by the seat of your pants and doesn’t let go until the end.
The main character is very strong and takes the reader deep into her thoughts, life and also the witch world.
There are other very strong intriguing characters. Like always its good against evil. In this case to different sides of witch world. By the end of this book you are thinking no I can’t be done already.
I know I can’t wait for the second part of this book to come out.
Again Christopher Pike is a young adult writer but like I said before I am a grown woman with kids and I truly enjoy his books and this series is no different.
I highly suggest you check this book out. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you for your time.
Hopefully I will finally be able to finish afraid by J.A. Konrath.
Until then

Review for Thirst 5 by Christopher Pike.

Posted in Book Reviews, books, reading with tags , , on May 9, 2013 by firequeen3

Hello again. I realize it has been a while. I do apologize. Life does seem to take its own roads sometimes. I haven’t had a lot of time to read.
When the 5th installment of Christopher pikes Thirst series came out I had to read it.
This whole series is centered around the last vampire on earth. Sita has faced many challenges through out this whole series. This book like almost all of the books in this series Sita is faced with not only saving others and sometimes the whole world. But she also faces her own personal struggles with who she is. Her spirituality and also her past.
I highly recommend this book in fact I recommend the whole Thirst series. It is labeled as a young readers book but I can tell you as an adult I have enjoyed every installment of this series.
One thing I enjoyed was getting to the end of this book. As with most series I truly enjoy I never want them to end and this was no different but when I reached the last page it was left open so I am hoping that Christopher pike will do a 6th installment in this series. I can only hope. 🙂
Okay that’s it for now.
I will be doing a review on Christopher pikes new book Witch World.
Until then.

Review for Whiskey sour by J.A. Konrath

Posted in Book Reviews, books, horror, reading, reviews with tags , , on February 27, 2013 by firequeen3

I just finished the first book in the Jack Daniels story, Whiskey sour. Now I realize I kind of hopped around and I apologize for that but I actually didn’t get interested in the Jack Daniels series until after reading Stirred.

I truly enjoyed this book. We are introduced to Jack and find out how she met Phinn and Lathum. I also got a bit of a back story on her and Harry I hadn’t read before this book.
Jack has been a cop for a good eighteen years by this story and has already claimed the rank of lieutenant. Jack is working the gingerbread man case. This book heats up fairly quick. I like fast paced. It keeps you interested. This book to me didn’t seem as frightening as some of the others in the series. None the less a fast paced, funny and thrilling read.
J.A Konrath makes this books fun to read and they are so worth the money you spend on them.
That’s it for now.
Till next time
Keep reading.

Review for shaken by J.A. Konrath

Posted in Book Reviews, books, horror, reading, reviews with tags , , on February 23, 2013 by firequeen3

Okay, so here we are again. I just finished Shaken.
This book was great. It shifted between three different points in jacks life.
The first when she’s a new cop. The second 18 years into her career. Then the third is present day.
They all have to do with the same serial killers. The infamous Mr. K and another with a taste for dismembering escorts.
The shift between the three different periods is effortless.
While I have to say I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the last few it is still a great read. I enjoy reading a book that keeps me guessing and this one did. I also enjoy books that scare me and in that department I’m afraid this one fell a bit flat. Like I said though this is still a great story.
Jack is in a bit of a bind. Literally, jack awakes bound up in a storage container. It really does look like the end for jack. Not only that Jack and her new boyfriend Phinn find themselves with a bit of a surprise.
In the end jacks partner and lover and friends can’t find her but she is saved by someone you wouldn’t expect.

Well worth the read.
I realized that this being the last bookmark I read that I have not read the first in this series so whiskey sour will b my next review.
Till then keep reading.

Review on Cherry Bomb by J.A. Konrath ( spoiler alert

Posted in Book Reviews with tags , , on February 22, 2013 by firequeen3

I finished Cherry bomb las night and I actually did a review but somehow it was deleted 😦 .

In Fuzzy navel which I actually finished @ 10:30 on Wednesday night Konrath left us with one of jacks loved ones dead. I couldn’t believe it I was like no way you can’t leave me hanging like that. I immediately purchased cherry bomb. I am so glad I did too. It was worth ever penny.
This book was thrillingly entertaining.
I cried. I laughed. I was shocked and surprised.

Alex Kork is back in this book and as bad as ever. Alex gets 50% of this book which I actually loved. Alex pushes jack to her limits in this book. She has Jack questioning everything.

As Alex gets her 50% of the so does Jack get the other 50%.
Jack questions her sanity at points in this book. She even has turmoil with some of the very people she has tried so hard to protect.
Will good win out against bad? I wasn’t sure throughout a good part of this book.
Alex is definitely on her game in this book.

Jack stumbles aand does fall in this book which really surprised me yet at the same time it impressed me also.
In these books you see or view Jack as this hard ass tough as nails cop.
In this one though Konrath really let’s all Jacks softer sides be seen.
This book is funny yet terrifying.
I found my self laughing at times, on the edge of my seat at times, crying and terrified at times.
You really do feel like you are on roller coaster ride.
One of the best Jack Daniels books in the series.

I will be reviewing shaken next I know your probably thinking I skipped one but I assure you I haven’t. As I had stated before I didn’t start off reading this series in order I had read stirred after reading birds of prey by J.A. Konrath and Blake Crouch. The review for it is in my list of reviews.
Till next time keep reading.
